There's also the issue of software theft. I've also noticed that sometimes when pricey new plug-ins are introduced, the owners of particular bundles get the plug-in for free (not just an update or whatever). I think the Waves update plan for $200 is a very good deal. Waves seems to take an approach opposite to many companies - instead of offering a low entry price and making up for it with updates, they charge a higher entry price and are very reasonable about updates. I guess I bought mine right on time, with a free upgrades for life policy! I've felt bad about it so I even bought some individual applications when I was able to do so, just to support the developer. Now it has 20 applications and I have received every single one for free. Reminds me of a software bundle I bought years ago (2000?) with 3 applications. These days it may be harder to get additional content. I guess that timing is also an interesting factor. I think that every single plugin Waves has released he has gotten without any further charges. He can afford it, and from what I understand he has gotten a lot of additional plugins over time. I did get lucky with the timing.Ī friend has the Mercury bundle which is their most expensive one. Then when version 7 came out I got that upgrade for free. I got my Gold bundle updated to version 6, plus a Renaissance Maxx Bundle. ![]() I think it's called the Waves Update Plan. More recently I decided to buy an upgrade in order to use Waves plugins under my current computer (Dual 2.0 GHz PPC, OS 10.5.8). I bought it maybe in 1999, and at that time I got a relatively good deal on it. I have to say that I've been quite happy with my purchase of Waves Gold 3.
